Christmas was yesterday and we’re heading into a new year.  This time of year is a time when we can all be a little introspective.  The nights are longer.  The sun can be hidden with clouds.  This can make our world seems a bit smaller.  The new year is about to start and it’s as good a time as any to make a change.  Whatever the cause, we start to think about our life and whether it’s what we want.  Maybe there are some changes that we’d like to make.  Maybe we want to achieve something different in the coming year.  Maybe we just want to be a better version of ourselves.  Whatever our goals might be, first we must figure out who we are in the present moment.  We need to discover our own personal truth.

I just spent a week in Massachusetts getting further yoga therapy training.  One of the things that we talked about was personal truth.  I spent time connecting  my mind and body in order to get in touch with my own inner wisdom.  When I did that, I was able to uncover what my personal truth was at that moment in time.

As I thought about my own personal truth, I came to see that overall my truth has changed over time.  I’m no longer the same person that I was 20 years ago.  Of course there are some personal truths that will never change.  My love for my children is as strong as it’s always been, but there are other things that are no longer the same.  Getting to know who I am in this moment in time was empowering.  I came away with a better sense of what I want to do next in my life.  I also realized that change happens and my own personal truth will change as circumstances change and time passes.  I admit to not thinking much about this previously, but I’m very glad that I took this time to look at myself as I now exist.

I’m not one to set New Year’s resolutions.  Instead, I like to look back over the past year and think ahead to the next.  I have a gratitude jar full of things that I’m grateful for in 2017.  I’ll take some time to look through it as the year ends and then think about the possibilities that lie ahead in the next year.  I have an idea of some things that I’d like to accomplish and I’ll think about how that can happen.

This all starts with my own personal truth.  I have to know who I am right now before I can think about anything that I want to do or accomplish.   I can’t move forward on my path if I don’t know where on that path I currently am.

My time in Massachusetts was very introspective.  I got an early start on the looking inward this year.  This process of looking inward is something that I enjoyed and that I want to share with others.  Starting in January, I’m going to lead an 8 week series for a small group of people.  This series is called Navigating Change.  I’ll take you through something similar to what I did in Massachusetts.  If you join me in Navigating Change, then you’ll have the chance to discover why you do certain things and not others.  You’ll learn to connect to your own inner wisdom.  You’ll uncover your own personal truth and begin to put it into action.  You’ll be empowered to make changes in your life that work for you.

Space is limited in this group.  So, if you’re interested don’t wait.  You can get more information and sign up here.  If you have any questions, then email me at or call me at 864-558-5840.  I’d love to have you join us on this journey of self-discovery!

Wishing you all the best in 2018!
