Thanksgiving has come around again. I find myself thinking about what I’m grateful for in my life. There are so many things that go on that list. I wouldn’t try to list them all for you, but here are a few.
-Our car insurance that will pay to fix my daughter’s car after she was in an accident last month. She’s okay. The car just needs a little help now.
-My house that keeps me cool in the summer, dry in the rain & warm in the winter.
-My family that annoys and delights me at the same time.
-My car that gets me to where I need to go every time.
-My job as a yoga therapist that allows me to help other people heal.
-My job as a yoga teacher that allows me to inspire others to improve their health in the classes that I teach.
-My yoga mat that is always ready for my yoga practice even when I don’t really feel like practicing.
-All of the food that I have available for my nourishment.
My list could go on and on, but I’ll stop there.
Thanksgiving is about gratitude and I try to spend a few minutes every day in my practice of gratitude. At the end of each day, I write down just one thing that I’m grateful for and put it in my gratitude jar. I’ll go through that jar on New Year’s Eve and remember many of the things that have happened over the past year.
So, as Thanksgiving is approaching, I’m thinking a little more about all the things that I’m grateful are in my life. Sure I have challenges in my life. Who doesn’t? Even with those challenges, in reality, I’m really very blessed in so many ways.
Instead of focusing on things that are missing in my life, I choose to focus on all of my blessings. I believe that focusing on those many blessings allows me to be open to more blessings coming into my life. I consciously make this choice.
What are you grateful for this year? What are your blessings? Are you open and ready for more blessings to appear in your life?
Take a moment to write down just 3 things that you are grateful are in your life. Notice if your perspective shifts just a bit. Now, try this every day and see what happens.
