When was the last time that you were eager to get up and start a project, go to work, explore a new place or even enjoy a hobby?  Has it been awhile since you had that type of excitement in your life? Do you even remember what it is that you like to do?

I know from my experience that I got so wrapped up in my kids’ lives that I often forgot to pay attention to my own likes and dislikes.  My hobbies became fewer as I concentrated on raising my kids. I’ve spent the last few years getting to know what it is that I like and don’t like right now.  I’ve learned to follow my own desires more often and not put everything that sounds interesting on the to do later list.

The beginning of my journey as an empty nester coincided with my journey into yoga therapy.  As I learned to listen to my own inner guidance, I noticed that I had been ignoring it for much of my time as a mom.  Sure, I followed my instincts when I needed to regarding the kids.  What I ignored was my instincts regarding myself.   I put myself on the back-burner while I was raising my kids.  Maybe that was just a necessary part of that time of my life?  Maybe I could have devoted a little more time to what made me the person that I am?  I’ll never know and I can’t go back and change it.  So, I won’t spend too much time worrying about it.  What I will do, is invest in myself again.

I’ve been investing in myself a lot over the past couple of years.  I’m in a totally different place than I used to be.  Most days, I’m excited to jump into my work.  I love guiding other people through transformational change and I feel honored to be a witness to it.  I’ve found new purpose and goals.  I now have something that I’m excited to get out of bed for in the morning.

I’ve been developing programs and working with various people as I settle into this next chapter of my life.  Slowly, my life has morphed into a version that I find exciting and fulfilling.  That’s what I want to help others do.  That’s what I’m passionate about.  I don’t believe that we have to settle for less.  We don’t have to just exist in a life without purpose.  Finding what excites you and gets you moving in the morning, might take a little trial and error, but it is possible.  I’m here to help if you need the support.  Just reach out to me.

I have exciting news coming in the next week.  I’m eager to share, but I’m letting it percolate just a little longer.  While you wait for my news, take some time to think about what gets you excited to get out of bed in the morning.  I’d love to hear what excites you!  Share in the comments below.
