I’ve just finished up the latest round of Who Am I Now? I spent 4 weeks with empty nest moms helping them to realign to their current truth. These ladies jumped right into the process & spent time connecting to their present self. They explored where they are now & where they want to go. They spent time asking the questions that helped them to uncover their current truth & what they wanted to do with it.
It was so inspiring to watch these women change and grow!
This isn’t always so easy to do. When you take the time to dig deep & uncover what your truth is right now as opposed to what it was 20 years ago, often you find that you’re not the same person that you used to be. Getting to know this new version of you & then creating a life that fits this new version of you takes courage and strength.
To create change in your life that will help you to better align to this current version of you, means that you’ll have to let some things go. Doing this will create space for the changes that you want to bring into your life.
Letting go can be very difficult to do.
The alternative to letting go isn’t any better though. When you cling to the past & refuse to accept the change that needs to happen you are creating pain for yourself. You can stop this pain by living in your current truth & not your truth from the past.
For example, if you resist the changes that come with your child leaving home, then you’re probably stuck in the past. You’re trying to recreate something that no longer exists. You’re child will never be 4 or 5 years old again. You can’t bring back that time. It just won’t work for you.
Instead, what you can do is accept that your child is now a grown adult. Get to know your child in this stage of their life. Also, get to know yourself in this stage as well. Connect to what you like. Try a hobby. Join a club or try something new. Whatever you change or add in to your life, do it for you. Then, you can move forward and stop clinging to your past.
What inspires me?
Out of the entire 4 weeks that I spent with these women, one thing stood out most to me. That was watching these moms accept their current truth & then take the action needed to align to that truth. That’s not always so easy or fun to do. This is where you need courage & strength.
These moms are taking baby steps to create change in their lives. With each new change, they’ve learned skills to evaluate the results & shift again if necessary. It’s a beautiful process to watch & these are skills that they can now use the rest of their lives.
Live in your current truth.
If you are resisting change, then you can stop the pain that goes with that resistance. Take some time to explore your current truth & begin to bring it in to your life one step at a time.
Remember, I’m always here to help you with the process. Schedule a free call & let’s discuss your goals.
Love & Hugs,
Becky
