Recently, I led a 6 week group class to journey inward and discover what was important to us, listen to our inner wisdom and reconnect with who we want to be.  During this group, I was reminded that my actions weren’t quite matching up with my truth.  I realized it was time to realign so that I did line up a bit more with that truth.  The only thing stopping me from doing this was me and I was ready to get out of my own way.

What this meant for me was that it was time to stop teaching another yoga class.  So, while I was leading the group, I was getting a lot out of it as well.  I was inspired to go ahead and take action.  I’m now teaching one less class a week.  By doing this, I’m able to spend more time developing a new project that I’m passionate about.  I have more energy to be creative and more incentive to move forward with this project.  I’m not ready to announce this project yet, but I’m so excited to spend the extra time to fully develop it.

I was ready to move forward on my path again.  It just took that reminder in my group class to give me the nudge to do so.

You see life is a series of  forward steps.  Sometimes they might be really small steps like not teaching this class just so I have a few extra hours a week to develop my new program.  Sometimes they might be huge steps like moving to a new state (I know several people who have either just done this or are about too & I’m  in awe of your courage to do this!)  If you pay attention and are mindful of your choices, those forward steps are constantly realigning you with your own truth.  The opposite can be true as well.  If you aren’t mindful of those choices, you just might end up some place that you really don’t want to be.  I don’t know about you, but I would much rather be mindful of my choices so that I have a say in my life rather than letting my life manage me.

In this case it was something that I’ve wanted to do for awhile.  I was very mindful of what it meant to change directions in this way and I really wanted to move forward again on my path.

Now, my Friday routine is going to be a little bit different.  I’m going to dearly miss seeing those folks in that Friday class.  I’ve loved teaching them and I’ve loved sharing restorative yoga with them.  This is another one of those bittersweet moments in life.  I’ll miss the class but I’m extremely excited for where I’m heading.  Just a little more realigning with what I want in life.

As my son moves in & out of the house during this final year of high school/boarding school, I’m sure my empty nest changes will continue to come.  Some of them will be harder to take and  some of them will be eagerly sought out.  It’s all part of that forward movement on my path.

What steps have you taken lately to move forward on your path?
